CULTURAL WEIGHT

Who am I? Living in different places around the world, I was constantly confronted with this question. I was born in Israel. My mother’s family came from Germany, my father’s from Yemen. All are Jews. For some I’m black, for some too white. “ASHKENAZI” or “MIZRACHI”. Am I Arab? I have two nationalities and two homes. Is it all a weight that I have to carry for the rest of my life or a force to build my identity?
The weights are made out of wood full with stainless steal.

The work was part of Cultural Commuters exhibition in Designtransfer as part of State of Design Festival and DMY International Design Festival
